I hope this message finds everyone well and enjoying the wonderful weather. The board and I have been working hard in Bismarck to secure a bill that works for us.
As many of you know, health departments have long been responsible for licensing, permitting, design, and inspections of onsite sewer systems—and they have done an excellent job over the years. However, we have reached an impasse in working together, which has led us to seek legislative action to update and streamline the process.
We believe this legislation will create a faster, more efficient, and cost-effective process for homeowners, contractors, government agencies, and financial institutions involved. After extensive discussions and addressing various concerns, we turned to the legislature for guidance, which led to the development of Bill 2267.
This bill represents our best effort to move forward with the next phase of onsite sewer installation and regulation. It will go to committee tomorrow, January 29, and the board and I will be there to testify and answer any questions.
If you have any comments, concerns, or input, please reach out to the board or me.
Thank you for your support!
